I was able to attend The Behemoth’s Castle Crashers Release party on Friday after Comicon. What a blast! I had a great time meeting a bunch of people from the Newgrounds community. Here are a couple of pictures:
Castle Crashers is great! Lots of fun, easily one of the most entertaining XBLA titles out there. The multiplayer experience is hilarious and I can’t wait to play the full game from start to finish. The sheer amount of unlockable weapons/items/characters is enormous. We were given just a small taste of what’s available at the party. Tom says it should take at least 5-6 hours to complete the full game. I can’t wait!
I was able to chat it up quite a bit with Luis Castanon, a Newgrounds regular and a fantastic artist/illustrator/animator. Thanks again for the invite, Luis!
AfroNinja let me know how well his new game Territory Wars 2 was doing. Expect a redesign of his website soon.
It was nice to hit it off with Dan Berry, the kid who’s responsible for Office Spider.
One of my more memorable conversations came from Mike, one of the programmers over at Newgrounds/The Behemoth. The kid figured out how to do raytracing in Flash 10! He even got a little notoriety for it over at Adobe. I hope he puts up the animated version soon!
Tim at Newgrounds gave me the play-by-play on his battle with AOL customer service. Ugh, I feel so bad for him. >_<
As always, it was fun to talk with Tom Fulp and Dan Paladin on developing Castle Crashers. It’s very inspiring to see the project come to fruition. I’m very inspired to push Conjurer over to the XNA/XBLA platform when it’s finally complete.
Great party! I’m very happy that I was able to participate. Here’s hoping that there’s another one next year.

I wanted to claw out my eyes when I saw this. If you ever want to work as a contractor, you HAVE to have a thick skin for this bullshit. This video may sound like a joke, but I’ve had projects that were disgustingly close to this. Dealing with people who have no clue what they’re doing and utilize as many buzzwords as possible is about as enjoyable as a root canal.

Here he is, the final boss. The Mage Lord! I figured if this game is inspired by the old NeoGeo game “Magician Lord” then the final boss of “Conjurer:WotA” should be somewhat of an homage. Here’s a pic of the old one.
Thankfully I decided to omit the 90’s era flat top and goatee. Haha!

Sometimes a video streamer like flash needs to pause streaming video to buffer a few more seconds of frames and audio. The frame that it pauses on is usually pretty nondescript. Except this one. Man… she loooves her pasta. I just HAD to take a screen cap.
