More cutscene images.
One wonders why in the hell I don’t use the pen tool for these images. They would take about half the time to make. Maybe I’ll make a note for my future games. However, I’m always redrawing lines over and over again because I’m not happy with Flash’s smoothing algorithm applied to pen strokes. So… Hmm… Well, we’ll see what happens when we cross that bridge.
Let me know what you think!

I wasn’t really pleased with how the old Ogre Grunt looked. The little goblins already carried a spear weapon, and the proportions seemed a bit awkward. The new design really puts the Ogre Grunt into a different class. Now he’s more of a brawler, sporting gauntlets similar to the final boss, but without any magical properties. The real threat from him will be his ability to soak up damage, and should he get close enough, he’ll grab the hero and pummel him a handful of times before chucking him across the screen.
What do you think?

I thought y’all might like to see the final look for the end-game boss. He has two stages: His normal form and god-like form.
Hope you like it!

I thought you all might like to see how I go about making some of the cutscene art. This pic is the Academy of Spell Casters, home to the Order of Mages, the Grand Conjurer, and our hero, the Grand Conjurer’s apprentice. This is where the hero begins and ends his quest. More on the story later.
First, I start of with a rough sketch…

Then trace and augment what I can with a black line tool…

Then a final coloring, adding highlights and matching line colors to fills…

Then another color augmentation. In this scene, the final boss has taken over the Academy after destroying the tower that housed the Order of Mages. It will be the location of the final level…

Hope you like it! A LOT of things will get finished over the week now that Spring Break has arrived.

I’ve been getting a lot of requests for an update. I know that it has been a while since the last video update, but please rest assured that Conjurer is still in production slowly but surely reaching completion. Watch the video for the latest updates! I’m trying out Youtubes annotations to describe what’s going on. Sorry for the crappy compression, I JUST found out that Youtube allows larger video files.
Lately, school has been a huge tax on keeping up with Conjurer. I’m in the last year of my BA and these upper division courses are murder. Lately, I’ve been stuck on my final project for Artificial Intelligence. The assignment was a SudokuSolver, and after two and a half weeks I still couldn’t get it to work. I really hope this doesn’t require me to retake the class again.
On top of that, my good buddy Ryan Sharpe over at GetWellGamers asked me to hop on a project with him. Outside of working on his charity to give free games and gaming consoles to children’s hospitals, he’s had his eye on game development. Ryan’s asked to keep a tight lip on the production, so expect to hear more about it when it’s done.
